چکیده

The constant-volume heat capacity, CV(T ,r), of the restricted primitive model ~RPM! electrolyte is considered in the vicinity of its critical point. It is demonstrated that, despite claims, recent simulations for finite systems do not convincingly indicate the absence of a divergence in CV(T ,r)—which would point to non-Ising-type criticality. The strong qualitative difference between CV for the RPM and for a Lennard-Jones fluid is shown to result from the low critical density of the former. If one considers the theoretically preferable configurational heat-capacity density, CV /V , the finite-size results for the two systems display qualitatively similar behavior on near-critical isotherms. © 2001 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1359769#

Extension of the Dense System Equation of State to Electrolyte Solutions

In this work we have applied the Dense System Equation of State (DSEOS) to electrolyte solutions. We have found that this equation of state can predict the density of electrolyte solutions very accurately. It has been tested for different electrolytes solutions at different temperatures and compositions. A hypothetical binary model has been applied to find the dependencies of parameters of ...

Modeling thermodynamic properties of electrolytes: Inclusion of the mean spherical approximation (MSA) in the simplified SAFT equation of state

In this work, an equation of state has been utilized for thermodynamic modeling of aqueous electrolyte solutions. The proposed equation of state is a combination of simplified statistical associating fluid theory (SAFT) equation of state (similar to simplified PC-SAFT) to describe the effect of short-range interactions and mean spherical approximation (MSA) term to describe the effect of long-r...

A Double Pipe Heat Exchanger Design and Optimization for Cooling an Alkaline Fuel Cell System

In the presented research, heat transfer of a mobile electrolyte alkaline fuel cell (AFC) (which the electrolyte has cooling role of system) has been considered. Proper control volumes of system with specific qualification have been chosen. Consequently, heat and mass transfer in control volumes have been assessed. Considerations on them and contributed models lead to approve a double tube heat...

Temperature dependence of the double layer capacitance for the restricted primitive model of an electrolyte solution from a density functional approach.

We apply a different version of the density functional theory, given by Pizio, Patrykiejew, and Sokolowski [J. Chem. Phys. 121, 11957 (2004)], for a nonuniform restricted primitive model of an electrolyte solution to evaluate the temperature dependence of the capacitance of an electric double layer. We show that this theory is capable of reproducing the computer simulation data at a quantitativ...

Universality class of criticality in the restricted primitive model electrolyte.

The 1:1 equisized hard-sphere electrolyte or restricted primitive model has been simulated via grand-canonical fine-discretization Monte Carlo. Newly devised unbiased finite-size extrapolation methods using loci in the temperature-density or (T,rho) plane of isothermal rho(2-k) vs pressure inflections, of Q identical with(2)/ maxima, and of canonical and C(V) criticality, yield esti...
